After everything I’ve gone through with chronic pain, I’m now at a place where I can deal and face some of what has happened. So these last few weeks I’ve organizing that chaos into words. Two songs have come up consistently. First is “Piece by Piece” by Kelly Clarkson. I watched her sing this on the last season of American Idol and fall apart on stage. It was one of the most honest, heartfelt performances I have ever seen. This week I know a little of what she felt putting her past into words.
The second song is “I’ll Keep You Safe” by Sleeping At Last. It’s a beautiful ballad, which calms my soul to relinquish my fear and dive head first into that which I do not want to acknowledge. It helps me reclaim my sense of safety while I write about the deepest wounds in my heart.
