About Photography

” “What a splendid day!” said Anne, drawing a long breath. “Isn’t it good just to be alive on a day like this? I pity people who aren’t born yet for missing it. They may have good days of course, but they can never have this one.” ” – Taken from Anne of Green Gables by  L.M. Montgomery

Recently I read this quote and began to cry. I had been lying in bed for months unable to much else but see the numerous doctors that were attempting answer the question “Why?”. Why did I have constant headaches and migraines? Why was my pain increasing? Why was this happening at 20? Why had this been going on for 4 years? Why should I even bother to get out of bed? Why?

When I read Anne’s words, I felt like God smacked me upside the head. He reminded me that He had provided something beautiful for me each day. I just had to get out of bed and find it. It became a game that made any day, no matter how much it was a horrible, into a beautiful one. They are usually the simple moments: the laugh of a child, rain on a summers day, a flower in bloom, hot tea on a chilly morning, etc. But ones that are worth seeing and remembering.

This blog is my attempt to record them. I will post a new (unedited) picture of something beautiful each day for a year. In the likely event I am unable to connect to the internet while away, I will either do more the week before or after the trip. So that by July 25, 2011 there will be 365 pictures in this blog.

For me, this record is a remembrance of God’s faithfulness. Everyday I get out of bed, there is at least one beautiful moment that was worth seeing.

This blog is also for you. That you may begin to look (and remember to look) for the beauty God prepared for you each day. Open your eyes it is there!

And remember, this day only happens once. Enjoy it while it lasts!
